Dr. Eduardo Franco

                       

We are delighted to be hosting  

Dr. Eduardo Franco at our QuRCS Studio on Friday afternoon during his visit to Dalhousie University. 

 

Dr. Franco is James McGill Professor in the Departments of Oncology and Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Director, Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Acting Chair, Department of Oncology, at McGill University's Faculty of Medicine, in Montreal, Canada.

 

Professor Franco's research during the last 26 years has focused on the following topics: molecular epidemiology and prevention of cervical cancer and human papillomavirus-associated diseases, upper aero-digestive tract cancers, and childhood tumours; studies of epidemiologic methods for evaluating efficacy of cancer screening strategies; the impact of measurement error in epidemiology; and studies of societal and clinical influences on cancer patient survival.

WHO Global Vaccine Safety Blueprint Project

Dr Janice Graham presented at the Global Vaccine Safety Blueprint  Meeting which took place at the WHO Headquarters in Geneva.

This meeting marks an important step towards the finalization of the Blueprint strategy and discussing the next steps towards its implementation. The aim of the Blueprint is that all countries implement effective vaccine safety systems – including preparedness, monitoring and prompt response.

Contesting Aging & Loss

A new book!

Dr. Janice Graham and Dr. Peter Stephenson are the co-editors of the new book - Contesting Aging and Loss- published in April 2010 by the University of Toronto Press. 

This work takes a look at ways in which the idea that older adults are necessarily in decline causes problems in itself.
